The Inaugural Washington County Juneteenth Author Showcase

Hagerstown, MD -- On Saturday, June 11, the Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce will partner with The F.O.C.U.S (Fun, Opportunity, Concentration, Unwavering, Success) Trainer to host a Juneteenth Author Showcase. Six African American authors who reside in Washington County, Maryland will be showcased. The youngest participating author is 12-years old. The showcase will be held at The Meeting Room, located at 11377 Robinwood Dr, Hagerstown, MD., 21742 from 2-7 PM. During the showcase attendees will have the opportunity to fellowship while supporting Black-owned businesses from the surrounding community.

Juneteenth is the celebration of the emancipation of enslaved African people in the United States. During the American Slavery Era, the punishment for a person of color who even attempted to read a book was death.  This Juneteenth event will showcase the progress people of color have made as a nation and to pay reverence to those who dared to learn to read and write while putting their lives at risk.

This event is free and open to the public, but reservations are encouraged and available through Eventbrite - Juneteenth Author Showcase at The Meeting Room.
